David Pontbriand offers private lessons for sitar. Studios are located in Portland, Maine - Amesbury, Massachusetts and Montpelier, Vermont. In addition, lessons are given by special arrangement at other New England locations. Call for information.
Lessons begin with understanding of the instrument, and development of basic technique. Lesson content is based on the traditional theory and practice of the Hindustani classical music of Northern India, for which the sitar was created.

The teachings combine traditional disciplines with a contemporary approach personally designed for each individual student, and employ aunique emphasis on ear training.
