Chitra A fusion chamber opera by composer Shirish Korde and librettist/director Lynn Kremer. an adaptation of a story from the Mahabarata, as interpreted by Rabindranath Tagore

This musical fantasy features a fusion of  Indian ragas, tabla rhythms, and dance, with Balinese vocal styles, percussion, and traditional shadow puppets.

Music Director & Conductor Richard Pittman and the Boston Musica Viva chamber ensemble have received international critical acclaim for their performances of works by contemporary composers.

Also included on the program, will be the world premier of Shirish Korde's Blue Topeng, a new composition for Balinese instruments, performed by Desak Suarte Laksmi.

Chitra, co-commissioned by Boston Musica Viva and The Fromm Foundation, received its world premier performance in Boston, in the year 2000.
